This annual fundraiser highlights authors who speak on various topics and sign copies of their books. This event is normally held at a local yacht club and includes a silent auction. Funds raised are mainly dedicated to EF/LAF.
Our branch provides the opportunity for 8th grade girls to attend a weeklong math/science summer camp at a Southern California university. The girls are recommended by local Westminster-Fountain Valley-Huntington Beach schools and are selected after interviews by branch members.
In addition to raising money for EF/LAF and Tech Trek, our branch provides an annual Golden West College scholarship for a woman who has re-entered college in order to obtain a degree.
Through speakers at monthly meetings, articles in the branch newsletter, and discussion groups, members are informed about issues affecting women and girls. Individual and/or group action is taken as appropriate.
PARTICIPATION IN THE RALPH'S REWARD PROGRAM
If you shop at Ralph's, sign up your Ralphs Reward Card with a link to our AAUW branch: we will receive money every time you shop at Ralphs. Some of our members have done so using the computer, while others have used the printed bar code given out at meetings and in our bulletin (The consensus is that it is much easier to do it in person with the printed bar code in your hand).
You can display a copy of the Ralph's letter which includes a bar code for registration, by clicking HERE. Print the letter, take it to Ralph's the next time you shop there and ask them to link it to your Rewards card. It will benefit the branch to do so.
